Guests - Please Look!
Many tour gardens "beef up" their beds with newer cultivars in anticipation of the upcoming event. I didn't have that type of resources, so I asked a number of hybridizers, both well-known and not so well-known, to send me what "they were proud of". They didn't have to be the current big seller, simply a good grower and something that they wanted to show off. I received an overwhelming response, to which I was very humbled by, surprised and pleased.
This is the result - a collection of not only the type of daylily which I personally collect, but plants that those generous hybridizers are proud of. I would like to say a very public THANK YOU to all of them!
If, after perusing my webpages, you decide that you need to add any one of these to your collection, please let the hybridizer know that you decided to do so because of their generosity in lending these plants for the 2009 Region 2 Summer Tour.:)

Delightful ruffles and green throat. |
APRICOT ALIEN
Display Only |
This is indeed an alien, always a different form, always delightful. |
CHEROKEE PATTERNS
Display Only |
Cleopatra used to be a favorite for its bold eye, however, it does not survive well in the north. This, in my humble opinion, should be the new standard. |
CHIRACHUA WARRIOR
Display Only |
What a stunning statement! |
DON'T KNOW JACK
Display Only |
This one always kept me guessing, because its form is so unusual, it didn't seem to know which way it wanted to head every day it bloomed. Always the personality. |
DOROTHY BURKEY CONRAD
Display Only |
Don C. Stevens Award candidate. Bold, clear colors, winner of the Dr. John Wente Hybridizer's Award in Region 3. |
FORGIVENESS
Display Only |
Forgiveness must be gentle. This bold, but gentle pink tet was always perfect. |
FOXHAVEN ENIGMA

Honorable Mention candidate. Just as the name suggests, the color is variable, but always pleasing. |
GADSDEN FIREFLY
Display Only |
This is a very small bloom, but heavy on the branching! |
HAZY LAZY CRAZY DAYS
Display Only |
This one has a very smoky, unusual color. |

LEE REINKE
Display Only |
I was intrigued by her heritage, Give Me Eight x Give Me Eight. She never gave me any poly blooms, but I wonder what's possible in this delicate beauty's gene pool? |
MAD JACKY
Display Only |
This is the longest of my Guest plants blooming. Was in bloom on July 12 and continued until August 27. |
MAGNETIC PERSONALITY
Display Only |
Lovely form! |
MYSTIC PIZZA
Display Only |
Took on slightly different forms, but this tet was always a standout. |
NAUGHTY NADINE AVANT
Display Only |
Annie T. Giles Award candidate. Naughty, she really is. She started blooming mid-season for me and continued through mid-August. Very long bloomer, lots of buds well spaced out. |
PECK'S POLY
Display Only |
Itza poly. |
ROBERT ALAN ECKENROD
Display Only |
Lovely smoky color. |
RUSTY NAIL
Display Only |
I'm not sure how it got its nomer, but it's anything but rusty! |
SAMBA TANTAN
Display Only |
For years, Clayton Burkey has described his growing conditions as difficult. They truly must be, because registered at 3 branches with 11 buds, this was an over-the-top performer in my garden this year. It achieved 4-way branching with 28 buds. It must have been watered it well enough.:) |
SANTA'S PANTS
Display Only |
Sure is a cutie! |
SCARLET BUTTERFLY
Display Only |
Another very small one from Bill Reinke, very well branched. |
SCARPIA
Display Only |
A shocker with its green throat. Despite Bob Schwarz' warning that it may be a southern plant, it was much stronger here than one of its parents, Tet Satan's Curls. |
